Nike SB stands for Nike Skateboarding - or it might mean Sandy Bodecker, depending on who you ask. After a short-lived program in the mid-90s, Nike and Sandy Bodecker sought to understand the landscape, the ecosystem and the personalities driving it. The shops, the spots, the diehards, the sessions, the collaborations, the collectors, and the creatives that made it unique. The team started with four style icons: Gino Iannucci, Danny Supa, Richard Mulder, and Reese Forbes. Soon, the brand saw new additions, with athletes like Eric Koston, Stefan Janoski, Ishod Wair, Lance Mountain, and Paul Rodriguez (one of only four people to ever have 10 signature shoes with Nike). Today, that initial 4 is now 46 strong, with a healthy range of SOTYs, Olympians and underground legends across the globe. The new skaterboarding generation, led by the likes of Yuto Horigome, Rayssa Leal, Sky Brown, and Nyjah Huston are redefining the sport on their own terms, opening the door to anyone who’s brave enough to get on a board, and launching signature Nike SB sneakers in the process.
